Entanglement Removed from Infected Wound (Seal Rescue)

Ocean Conservation Namibia’s rescuers Denzil, Naude and Francois immobilised an entangled seal in their rescue net, when Denzil spotted a second entangled sea wobbling past. They quickly grabbed “Number Two“ and cut a fishing line loop off the seal’s neck, before they went back to “Seal One“. They had to reposition the seal in the net, and they opened the top zipper to assess the wound. The entanglement had been stuck around the seal’s neck for a while, the wound was deeply infected and looked very sore. Naude gently cut the packaging strap to break the tension, and he carefully pulled it out of the wound. The rescuers could feel the seal’s relief once the tension was cut. Naude took a piece of fur for scientific research, and he checked the seal’s sex for our database, and he opened up the front zipper to let her go back to the ocean.
