The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is currently facing a significant crisis due to the withdrawal of Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso. Despite the adamant declarations from the leaders of these countries that they have no intention of rejoining ECOWAS after the imposition of what General Tchiani of Niger referred to as “inhuman“ sanctions, ECOWAS is resolute in its commitment to engaging with these nations. Furthermore, The leaders of Burkina, Mali, and Niger have expressed their dissatisfaction with the sanctions, alleging that they were not carried out in the best interest of Africa but rather to appease Western powers.
