io Saturnalia! (Ancient Roman Lyre Meditation)

The Saturnalia was an ancient Roman festival celebrated during the week leading up to the winter solstice. It was characterized by a reversal of roles in which the slaves were free, the law courts were closed and all sorts of merriment and public disorder took place. As is the case with festival periods today, it served as a release of social tensions through an officially acceptable manner thus upholding the status quo and containing any true dissent or anarchy. This track serves as a kind of balance between meditation & chaos as the Saturnalia (just like Christmas) can be both a time of peace and craziness. We are free from the stress and constraints of the rest of the year, yet agitated by the need to party.
