The route is typically completed in 2-3 days. This is not a beginner bikepacking route. The steep climbing and rough trails make for a challenging ride and I would only recommend this intermediate level bikepackers. Water can be somewhat scarce in certain areas so make sure to bring at least 3-5 liters. In this video, I describe the significance of Mt St Helens and discuss the history of the 1980 eruption that killed 57 people and leveled 230 square miles of forest.
