The Ustashas were the Croatian party F4š1st4 led by the leader Dr. Ante Pavelić, responsible for the Independent State of Croatia during the Second World War. One of the Axis’s most brutal rulers, Pavelic wanted a racially pure Croatia, which demanded the cleansing of Serbs, Roma and Jews, but not Bosniaks, because Glavnik believed they shared the same roots as Croats and Bosnian Muslims. Together with Croatian Catholicism, it would preserve Croatian identity.
