Demining Donbass

Mines are everywhere: in the streets, in the branches of trees and on the roofs of houses. The Ukrainian army has been shelling Donetsk with ‘petal’ mines for months. The devices are difficult to distinguish among the leaves, and explode at the slightest pressure. As the Ukrainian soldiers retreated, they mined everything: schools, hospitals, and residential buildings. Sappers risk their lives every day to make the city safe again. They say it’s scary sometimes: ‘You think, God forbid if your children will be blown up by them.’ How is the clean-up operation going?
