98-year-old newspaper owner dies in Kansas after police raid her home
A 98-year-old newspaper owner who died after a controversial police raid was filmed angrily berating officers as they rummaged through her home.
Clutching a Zimmer frame, Joan Meyer could not contain her fury as at least six officers, armed with a warrant went through her belongings in a heavy-handed visit that triggered a nationwide row over freedom of the press.
The footage, released by the Marion County Record – whose offices were also raided – attracted more than 23,000 views in a few hours as anger spread at the heavy-handed operation which involved the entire local police department.
