German Imperial Song - Wir wollen unseren alten Kaiser Wilhelm wiederhaben

Wir wollen unseren alten Kaiser Wilhelm wiederhaben (We Want our old Emperor Wilhelm back), alternatively the Fehrbelliner Reitermarsch and Kaiser Wilhelm Marsch, is a cavalry march composed in 1893 by the royal Prussian music director Richard Henrion. Since the end of the German Empire in 1918, it has been sung with the line “We want our old Kaiser Wilhelm back”, and the further text “but the one with a beard, with a long beard” made it clear that the Subtext refers to Wilhelm I.
