Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov took a jibe at Western politicians who had spoken condescendingly about BRICS. Lavrov said “it shows that they wag their tongues, while we use our heads and [engage in] concrete issues.” This comes days after Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a scathing attack on the West during the BRICS Summit in South Africa. BRICS also invited Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to join as full members from January 1 next year.
