Germany Aachen

Aachen is a city in western Germany in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is located a few kilometers from the border with Belgium and the Netherlands. Aachen is one of the most important historical cities in Germany. In the Middle Ages, it was chosen by Charlemagne as his residence and was one of the centers of the mighty kingdom of the Franks. Aachen attracts tourists with ancient sights and cultural monuments, medieval buildings and streets, as well as a rich and interesting history. The pearl of the city is the monumental and imposing cathedral, founded by Charlemagne, in which the legendary king of the Franks was buried.
