In essence, just as with the plandemic where the definitions of words like ’pandemic’ and ’vaccine’ were changed, Russia was redefined no longer as a global hegemon, but a regional power. The US military doctrines on red lines for a regional power are very different than for a global hegemon. One should not escalate to signal high costs in order to deter a global hegemon. Their ability to see your escalation and raise you one is ’global’ and also ’hegemonic’. But if a country is just a regional power (or regional hegemon, to be consistent), then escalation discourages their aggression because it signals too high a cost. They will have to back down.
