Hewitt arrived at the venue where Odunde Festival is held in Philadelphia. He embarked on his walking tour and followed the entire route of the festival. The vendors lined the area of either around the 1700 or 1800 block of South Street and stretched as far as Grays Ferry Ave, turning south on Grays Ferry where they extended for about another mile.
There was plenty of art, crafts, music, dance, and food. The festival was very well attended as the weather held up great, making the evening a worthwhile and fun-loving outdoor event. This year’s Odunde Festival was not scaled back at all in terms of its sheer size. Given the overhanging and lingering shadows of the pandemic, the patrons turned out as if it did not matter. Hewitt has enjoyed every bit of it as he took the opportunity to display Philadelphia’s Single largest African Festival through his health and fitness program.
