RBRSL SS_2021
“Each step that lets a man go beyond a limit is a step toward the future”.
Crossing boundaries, translating matter and sometimes even disassembling or destroying it, are all possible openings to another place. RBRSL is a step towards an alternative mental space.
Rubber Soul is a journey of experimentation beyond the dictates of the Fashion System.
No age, no gender.
No Time, no Space.
Upcycling.
These five words sum up the SS21 collection.
Attention to the circular economy, the search for single-product concepts that contrast with disposable fashion, as products must continue their “life cycle“ thanks to the quality of the manufacturing process, so that even the environment can benefit.
The concept of seasonality fully revolutionized, therefore free from any expiration date, from any idea of space or limit.
The new project “bold” is created using a patented process that is not just a shoe bottom, but a new vision of manufacturing.
Every shoe, after being treated with a layer of hand-applied rubber, is then submerged in a special liquid rubber that, once cooled, incorporates the upper to form a real transparent shell. The handmade quality of the entire process gives life to an unmistakably unique and unrepeatable product.
On of the peculiarities of the “bold“ project is the transparent moulded lug sole, also made in various colours, with grooves that lighten the catalysed liquid rubber (now the brand’s signature), enhancing comfort.
A hybrid footwear with a street approach that is refined at the same time.
The “SNK 100M“ project, launched several seasons ago, will continue in the SS21 collection, but renewed.
The sole, as in the “bold“, is formed by a transparent shell, but with new midsole innovation featuring memory rebound technology for more cushioning, to reduce the weight of the sole and gain comfort.
The sock upper is formed by parts in suede and 3D workmanship with brand slogans printed directly on the finished product with inkjet technology.
The upcycling theme, or the art of recovery is a project very close to the brand as it can be a transverse phenomenon that is also good for the planet, since the waste raw materials used for the realization of shoes, are recycled and transformed into design objects, such as the new project “LAMP“, made from the scraps of the soles or the latest project “PAINTING“, resulting from the drippings of the coatings applied to the upper.
Any waste material that has exhausted its original function, can return with a new look, a new feature, this is the policy of RBRSL.
RBRSL is an ever-evolving brand that is not limited to footwear but uses raw material as a means to explore new design scenarios, experimenting without limits on thought.
“I try to manipulate, break, reuse material, because what bothers me is the idea that an element can simply be an end to itself or can be used for a single purpose, you should never be bound to a single point of view,“ says Valentina Curzi, Chief Creative Officer of RBRSL.
