Yehudi Menuhin : Live Concert 1951

Dubbings from a rare set of 16“ acetate transcription records featuring Yehudi Menuhin and the augmented 3DB Orchestra conducted by Verdon Williams - 11th July 1951 The concert featured 3 concertos - a monumental task for the soloist. BACH - E major Concerto BWV 1042 BRUCH - Concerto No.1 in G minor BEETHOVEN - Violin Concerto in D Major Encore (incomplete) - BACH Gavotte from Partita for solo violin No. 3 in E major, BWV 1006 The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra was indisposed this evening so the concert took place to great acclaim featuring the 3DB orchestra (augmented) in the cavernous Exhibition Buildings. By all accounts it was freezing inside and the audience arrived with blankets! Many thanks to John Fleming for the newspaper review
