“The Windmills Of Your Mind“ was composed in 1969 for the original film version “The Thomas Crown Affair“ with Steve McQueen. It began a life-long collaboration with Michel Legrand and the lyricists Alan and Marilyn Bergman. The trio would win their first Oscars for the composing of this song. It is still considered one of the greatest and most difficult (for a vocalist) songs ever written.
