Alton Towers’ third in their long line of “secret weapons“ to open, Air , an acronym for ’Aerial Inversion Ride’ opened as the world’s first B&M flying coaster back in 2002. Replicating the sensation of flight the ride features numerous thrilling yet somewhat relaxing twists, turns and elements, notably a lie-to-fly element.
In 2016, the Air name was dropped, the ride was refurbished, rethemed and rebranded as “Galactica“, the UK’s first Virtual Reality coaster. Despite these changes, the track layout of the original B&M flying coaster remains unchanged.
