SAVAGE RASCAL WITH ANTIQUE SLOW LOCKING BOLT- The Day of The Jackal rifle.

The closeup of the example of perhaps the oldest in the bolt rifles -a slow locking/cocking bolt mechanism that replaced the regular, modern ‘speed lock’ of the Rascal. This was done to accomplish the simplicity and reduction in size of the rifle mechanism to make it as slim as possible. This also made it possible to cock with much less effort while not having the leverage of the side handle. The speed lock was too heavy to cock this way. No rifles are made with the slow lock any longer I believe. But it has it,s place here. Works very well…
