BOY GEORGE Funtime (Ramp Alien Space Food Dub) VINYL ONLY REMIX

Another “Vinyl-Only“ remix, this one was the B-side to the 12“ Single “Funtime“, the first single from the album “Cheapness And Beauty“ in 1995. Both this, and the A-side vocal dance mix, were wildly different from the original album version, a grunge-soaked, guitar-heavy cover of the David Bowie penned Iggy Pop classic. Perhaps not wanting to alienate his dance club fan base, George remixed some of the harder rock tunes from the album into disco anthems to keep the interest up as he explored the new directions this album took him. I personally prefer the dub mix of this track over the vocal version, the slow build in the beginning works as a great DJ tool to segue this mix underneath almost anything played before it. I can imagine it was influenced by George’s then-fledgling DJ career, knowing the types of intros and outros needed to get played by DJs of any skill level.
