In the picture (l-r): Ustad Sakhawat Hussain Khan, Ustad Ilyas Khan, Ustad Yusuf Ali Khan, Zahid Khan (another sitar-playing son of Sakhawat Khansaheb who passed away at a young age). The picture was taken in the mid 1940ies in Yusuf Alis sitar workshop in Lucknow. In the upper floor of the same building Sakhawat Khansahebs family used to live during that time. The two giants were close peers exchanging musical ideas and compositions. During his long tour to Europe from 1936-39 Sakhawat Saheb even entrusted his second sons Ilyas Khansahebs musical education into the hands of Yusuf Ali Khansaheb.
