Guangzhou tightens Covid-19 controls as mass tests expose more cases in Chinese city

The provincial capital Guangzhou, the epicentre of the latest surge, is struggling to contain the spread of the highly transmissible Delta strain that was first detected in India. On June 6, 2021, local health officials said nine new cases have taken the city’s total coronavirus caseload to 94 since May 21.
