China: Wuhan welcomes Lunar New Year with cityscape light show

Wuhan kicked off Lunar New Year celebrations with a large light show across the city centre and on at least one bridge on Friday, as the city marked the way occasion in a pandemic-friendly fashion.
Skyscrapers along the Yangtze River could be seen lighting up and changing colours in celebration of the most important holiday in China.
According to the cycle of the lunar calendar, the Year of the Ox officially began on Friday in China, as well as in Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Vietnam. It will last until January 31, 2022 and will be followed by the Year of the Tiger.
Big public festivities have been cancelled this year because of the coronavirus with authorities strongly discouraging people from travelling during the holidays which will last until February 17.
