Associate Professor of Neurobiology at Duke University Medical Center, Dr. Jarvis is interested in vocal learning as related to patterns of gene expression in various areas of the brain, especially in songbirds. He is currently studying the evolution of vocal communication and the relationships between songbird vocalizations and human language.
