After winning the 800m freestyle gold, Finke added the 1500m title to his name, with Ukraine’s Mykhailo Romanchuk second and Germany’s Florian Wellbrock winning bronze. The 10th gold for USA swimmers at Tokyo 2020 was - fittingly - one of the most exciting races, as Finke finished first in 14:, followed home by silver medallist, Mykhailo Romanchuk in 14:.
