How Hernán Cortés Overthrew The Mighty Aztec Empire | Line Of Fire | Chronicle
Hernán Cortés, a Spanish colonist, arrived in the Imperial City of Tenochtitlan in 1519 and sought to conquer the Aztec Empire. Cortes forged alliances and manipulated local rulers, including Moctezuma, to gain control and influence. Conflict erupted, and after initial setbacks, Cortes and his forces managed to escape from Tenochtitlan. Cortes returned with allies and attacked Tenochtitlan again, eventually capturing the city after a series of battles and sieges.
