What She Taught Me

This work was commissioned by Electric Works Gallery for the opening exhibition of Brandon Norris’ A Sobering Affect on August 27, 2009. Charles Slender and FACT/SF created a two-hour performance installation that plays with time, context, wants, walls, and windows. The work was also infused with ideas and images Charles learned while working with choreographer Tatiana Baganova (hence the works title), looking at what happens when ideas are co-opted, re-contextualized, and re-presented. What She Taught Me was also presented at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Grand Lobby, curated into Mama Calizo’s CrashPad, SnappyHour. Choreography: Charles Slender in collaboration with the performers Performers: Sonja Dale, Erin Kraemer, Evan Hart Marsh, Catherine Newman, Claire Willey Costumes: Sporadic Assembly
