Ultraman Without Context

Ultraman (ウルトラマン, Urutoraman) is the second show in Tsuburaya Productions’ Ultra Series, and the first entry to feature Ultraman, a monster-fighting superhero who remains one of Japan’s most enduring pop culture icons. Ultraman (1966) popularized the “giant superhero“ subgenre of tokusatsu, and entries in this franchise continue to be made to this day. It’s a little silly, though. Many of the clips seen here are submissions, so credit for many of these goes to those who contributed.
