Sonatine (1924) by Pierre de Bréville

Sonatine by Pierre de Bréville (French, 1861-1949), performed for the Santa Barbara Music Club at the Santa Barbara Public Library by Dolci: Ted Rust, oboe, and Viva Knight, piano, on April 6, 2013. Its peaceful setting could be a summer holiday in Paris, with vignettes of the Isle de la Grande Jatte (as viewed by Seurat), boating on the Seine (by Monet) and horse races at Longchamps (by Degas). This performance is dedicated to the memory of Sara Maust, Jim Gemmell and Jon Lovelace.
