Fray Bentos a new high tech weapon at the time was a Mark IV tank that got stuck on the enemy lines. The crew battled for several days bravely defending from the German onslaught while under fire from the British who were trying to stop the tank falling into German hands.
Captain Donald Richardson, despite being injured, bravely led his crew to safety and they became the most highly decorated tank crew at the time. In recent years Fray Bentos’ last stand became the inspiration for the story Fury.
