They march along country roads, cross a river with vehicles, stop to have a cigarette and a chat by the side of the road. Soldiers walk across a field and into a village or hamlet. Radio operator sits at his wireless set. Signallers at work speaking into microphones and wearing headphones. Soldier digs grave; others carry a body covered by a blanket on a stretcher. Padre performs burial service while a small group watch. The grave is covered in and a German tin helmet is placed on the cross. A rifle is stuck in the ground beside the grave.
