Humphrey Lyttelton (arr. Eddie James) : Blues at Dawn

This excellent blues is by the British trumpeter, bandleader and radio host, Humphrey Lyttelton (1921-2008). I knew of him as the genial host of ’I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue’ radio show more than as a musician, but this is a most attractive piece, published in 1957 in this excellent piano arrangement by ’Eddie James’, who I believe to be a pseudonym of the BBC producer of jazz programmes of the time. It was published in an album called ’Humph’s Blues’. Not all the pieces in the book really sound like blues, but this one is the real thing, and one of the best piano blues arrangements I have come across. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------- Played by Phillip Sear (Email: piano4@ WhatsApp: )
