Nukeproof 297 Mixtape: Elliott Heap & Katy Winton

Riders have been mixing wheel sizes for many years. Since the 1870’s, when top hatted folk cruised the streets on the Penny Fathering, through to a 100 years later when the Raleigh Chopper was the poster child of many a 70s & 80s youth. But for Mountain Bike racing things took a turn in 2019 when the UCI relaxed the “both wheels must be the same size” rule. For many a year Nukeproof have offered frames in both 29” and 27.5” with aggressive geometry to suit the modern rider. Nukeproof are not ones to rush to meet the “latest trend”, behind the scenes the team were evaluating the benefits of mixing the wheels for our riders and athletes across the range. To ensure Nukeproof had the option of mixing wheels- if deemed necessary, the clever engineers ensured that the latest generation of frames were futureproofed, with the ability to “mix and match” tringles (Reactor, Mega, Giga & Dissent- which Nukeproof launched in 297 last year).
