The song takes Chris’ heartbreaking poem on the human impact of the war in Ukraine and sets it to music so that the words might travel. The video was directed by Todd Macdonald. Todd filmed Chris illustrating ’Persephone’ in his studio in Brighton, animated Chris’ words from the original poem, and developed the narrative for the film working closely with Ukrainian artist Varta Arutiunian who contributed footage of her flight from Ukraine and return visit home earlier this year.
