Acute Parotitis in HD

Acute parotitis is an infection of the parotid gland. This is one of three major salivary glands in the head and neck that secrets saliva to assist in lubrication and digestion of food. When infected one can see purulent drainage through the duct that opens into the mouth. Moshe Ephrat, MD, FACS 516-775-2800 Lake Success, NY
