You’ll experience the busy main shopping avenues, lively bars and dining spots, and the iconic cathedral, along with charming alleyways that showcase Seville’s rich history and architectural beauty. The walk ends near the end of a popular shopping street and covers the whole city center area. Seville, known as Sevilla in Spanish, serves as the capital and largest city of Andalucia, originally established as the Roman city of Hispalis. Nestled on the lower Guadalquivir River, in the southwest of the Iberian Peninsula, Seville boasts a picturesque old town spanning 4 square kilometers. This historic area is famed for its labyrinthine narrow streets and is home to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Alcázar palace complex, the Cathedral, and the General Archive of the Indies. I will cover the Alcázar palace in a separate video. The heart of Seville, particularly the Santa Cruz district, offers a postcard-perfect setting with its charming streets and Moorish influences. The city’s architecture blends Roman and Oriental styles, featuring palatial houses adorned with marble-paneled courtyards and traditional flat-roofed structures rarely exceeding two stories.
