Patato Valdes Tumbao #1 Played on three Congas Fast & Slow Tempo and Play Along
Patato Valdes went down in history as the first to play concerts on several conga drums. Thus, it became possible to use a melody in the rhythm. Patato was a great master of improvising on congas, creating a unique rhythmic-melodic drum part. In this series of videos, I will try to highlight particularly memorable fragments of his play. Starting with two-bar rhythms and ending with four-bar phrases. His playing techniques are very different from traditional Tumbao execution techniques, fewer fills are used, such as Palm-Finger combinations. The sounds of Open and Slap are mostly heard. In this example, a good load is given on the left hand. By practicing this rhythm, you will develop the capabilities of your left hand and this will greatly help you in the future.
