The third album of this duo. Angr dives deeper into the abyss of this blackened genre, crafting a soundscape that is as punishing as it is intricate. The album builds on the foundation of their earlier works, but with a renewed focus that takes their signature blend of black and death metal to new heights. The black metal elements are as ferocious as ever but also complemented by the death metal undertones, which, though slightly dialled back compared to previous releases, still contribute a layer of crushing brutality that resonates throughout the album. The band has clearly refined their approach, and uses the black metal’s icy fury which remains at the forefront, with its tempered by death metal’s guttural weight, creating a dynamic contrast that keeps the listener engaged from start to finish.
