Boris Plotnikov - Trap harmonica challenge (rap, DJ-scratch imitation)
Trap music and hip-hop music in general are especially important to me. There was a certain period in my life I listened to it most of the time. I admire those broken kicks, broken trap hi-hats, fast rap singing (especially I love this British style Grime). I spent hours and hours jamming with my harmonicas along hip-hop music trying to imitate rap singers’ rhythmic patterns into my solos.
Here I got popular trap type beat from youtube (2 millions views) based on two chords progression D minor and Bb major (Im-VI). I composed rather depressive short melody as head. I played this melody using Seydel 1847 LowF (4th position) customized by me with glides from Electro-harmonix Pitch Fork. Then I did fast aggressive solo (C harmonica Seydel 1847 customized by me, 3rd position, D minor), trying to imitate rap singer’s rhythmics but using whole harmonica range instead of 2-3 notes they usually use.
