The 1993 Russian constitutional crisis, also known as Black October was a political stand-off between the Russian president Boris Yeltsin and the Russian parliament that was resolved by military force. At the climax of the crisis, Russia was thought by some to be “on the brink“ of civil war. The ten-day conflict became the deadliest single event of street fighting in Moscow’s history since the Russian Revolution.
