Rolf Uusväli plays Passacaglia in D minor BuxWV 161 by Buxtehude

This recording is borrowed from a legendary soviet LP featured entirely on organ music of Dieterich Buxtehude. As it often happened those times, one cannot get enough information about the recording from the LP’s wrapper. It’s only presumably one can say the recording is from 1977. The place and the instrument are unknown, one in turn could guess, that it is perhaps the Schuke organ from St. Stanislaw Cathedral in Vilnius. However, the LP was for a very long time the only clue to the treasures of Buxtehude’s organ music in USSR, and that was realized, of course, by an organ “champion“ and lesser-known organ repertoire promoter -- Rolf Uusväli
