On November 26, 2011 the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) named “Curiosity“ began its 8½ month flight to Mars. MSL had a nominal launch on an Atlas booster from Cape Kennedy in Florida. This is raw footage from NASA TV captured during the launch. MSL is built by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) for NASA and carries science instruments made in several countries. It is slated to land in Gale Crater on Mars in August 2012.
