NeoBarock - The new program “Ein Donnerwort von Erden“ (A Word of Thunder from the Earth)

NeoBarock presents a new concert program, where the finest examples of baroque rhetoric music are put together with one of the most remarkable works of the Russian composer Galina Ustvolskaya (1919-2006) - her Trio for clarinet, violin and piano (1949). “The maximum expression using the minimum of resources”, describes Ustvolskaya’s style her student and renowned composer Boris Tischenko. “The Music of Spiritual Independence“ is the title of an essay written by her lifelong friend Viktor Suslin. In this program we play Ustvolskaya’s Trio alongside the compositions of Froberger, D’Anglebert, Couperin, Farina, Schmelzer and Bach. The clarinettist Marco Thomas, professor of the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen and chef of his own “Clarinet News“, joins us to perform Ustvolskaya’s trio. This video was made during the first performance of this program at the ZAMUS - Early Music Festival (Trinitatiskirche, Köln, ).
