Welcome to a new video on this channel. Today we are testing a 2020 Huawei MateBook 14. Huawei offers this model with both AMD and Intel processors. Today we take a look at the Intel Core i5- 10210U with integrated UHD Graphics and 8GB dual channel RAM in 23 games. Even though the device is almost 2 years old, it still belongs to the 3:2 mid-range. The device is currently interesting because it is on sale and can already be bought for well under 600 Euros. For this price, you get a device whose majority is made of aluminum. In addition, the display frame is made of glass and the sides around the ports are made of plastic. A 14-inch laptop with a 3:2 format and excellent build quality is definitely something special. But how does the device perform in gaming? Well, the performance is not as bad as I assumed in advance. The i5-10210U performed quite well in all 23 tested games. Its bottleneck was the integrated Intel UHD Graphics most of the time. Especially considering the i3 10110U already tested on this channel, the performance is consistently better in games. I can already say that much. I would definitely prefer the i5 over the i3 for gaming. Nevertheless, the results were also very sobering in parts. That is when it was not only about 3D performance but also about the CPU performance. For example, in games like DotA 2, Super People, or PUBG. The following happens when the system is under full stress. The CPU clock rate is throttled quite a bit. Partly the TDP, but also a very cautious, to put it nicely, power plan on Huawei’s part. Such a strong throttling would not have been necessary in my opinion. Huawei seems to have set a goal of keeping the CPU temperature at around 60 degrees Celsius. Even under maximum load.
