In 1992, the European Humanities University was founded in Minsk with an idea to bring the independent nation of Belarus back to the Western intellectual tradition by means of providing ideologically-free higher education in Humanities, Social Sciences, and Arts.
Despite political oppression and being closed down in 2004 by Belarusian authorities, EHU continues to operate in Vilnius, Lithuania by providing a rigorous liberal arts education to young Belarusians and fostering evolvement of the matured and resilient civil society in Belarus.
Since EHU was re-located in Vilnius, 2457, mostly Belarusian, graduates have completed their Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees at the Belarusian University-in-Exile.
