So in 1986, Aerosmith teamed up with Run DMC to cross rap and rock. In 1991, Anthrax and Public Enemy basically said “Hold my beer“. This song hit me like nothing I’d ever heard. The respect I have for Anthrax as a band is as high as it can get. As far as Charlie Benante goes, I can’t play like him but often times I wonder who can. Dude is so unique, so powerful, genuine and creative. And during quarantine, he’s burning it up on his channel And on the other side of the coin, this song introduced me to Public Enemy and the magic of both Chuck D and Flav. Just one of I don’t know how many rap / hip hop artists that reshaped the way I heard and internalized drums.
