Melbourne CBD expecting floods of people for New Year’s Eve celebrations

Almost half a million people are expected to flood into Melbourne’s CBD tonight to celebrate the ticking over of a brand new year. Fireworks will be launched from 27 of the city’s tallest skyscrapers. This year, people are being urged to wear their best glittery get-up if they are heading into the CBD. The Melbourne City Council has organised four public celebration zones held at Flagstaff Gardens, Docklands, Treasury Gardens and Kings Domain. From 6pm, there will be food trucks, live music and performances and plenty more for people wanting to make the most of the celebrations.
