Iran Seizes a US Oil Tanker in the Gulf of Oman The Iranian state television aired footage purportedly showing Iranian naval forces taking control of an American tanker in the Gulf of Oman. Iran said that the seizure of the Turkey-bound oil tanker was in response to the confiscation of its St. Nikolas vessel last year.
