From sub-GHz to sub-THz and from -100 to +60 dBm

This talk summarizes the current research topics in the RF and Applied Electromagnetics Group at the University of Colorado, Boulder, highlighting some collaborations with government organizations/labs as well as large and small-business industrial partners. Examples include V- and W-band GaN MMICs supported by the US Navy, heterogeneous integration up to 50GHz supported by several large companies, X-band Rydberg-atom quantum receivers, 1-GHz ultra-sensitive receivers for medical sensing and S-band spatial power combining for mixed-waste processing. Some opportunities for continued research and student employment are also presented, focusing on applications for III-V semiconductor analog circuits in areas of commercial and military communications, sensing, as well as industrial and medical applications. Example careers in industry, labs, and academia of some recent graduate students from the group are also highlighted.
