Egypt Expects Suez Canal to Serve “Belt & Road“ Initiative: Advisor

As a vital part of the ancient maritime Silk Road that linked China with southern Europe, Egypt’s Suez Canal is expected to play a new role in the “Belt and Road“ initiative that China has put forward, an Egyptian government advisor told China Central Television (CCTV) on Sunday. Since last August when Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi inaugurated the New Suez Canal project, the vital water way has become ready to accommodate more ships and larger ones too. And this first national project of the Egyp
