CHRISTIAN SCOTT “THE CENTENNIAL TRILOGY“

Two years after the masterful “Stretch Music“ and its transgressive jazz mixed with rap and electro, trumpeter-composer and producer Christian Scott presents “The Centennial Trilogy“, a personal tribute on the occasion of the centenary of the first jazz recording . February 26, 1917. A quintet of white musicians from New Orleans, the Original Dixieland Jazz Band, recorded the first jazz titles in history on 78 rpm. A century later, it is a child of this homeland of jazz, Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah who, by colliding tradition and modernity, maintains this bubbling musical heritage. Ruler Rebel is the first installment of “The Centennial Trilogy“, a mural designed to take stock of our times and highlight how little has changed in the past hundred years: “A lot of what happened when these guys recorded happens there, right now.
