In this video I make a bowl from the first pattern in Carole Rothman’s book “Scroll Saw Wooden Bowls“. She made hers from aspen but I used inexpensive pine construction material. I wanted this to be a practice or learning project and I did not have any 3/4 inch aspen. It came out better than I expected although I did drill the entry holes incorrectly and left a gouge in two of the rings on the outside. I did it again and drilled the holes with a drill press and did much better but did get one hole off and left a small groove on the inside of the bowl. But, that is why I call these practice bowls. I hope practice makes perfect. But I did follow here procedures and got the hang of the process. The angles lined up almost perfectly and made them easy to sand and finish.
Here are links to the book and the tools that I have purchased.
